Our Road Trip To Kerela

|

Last year in the month of July, we decided to visit the The God’s Own Country aka Kerela. My friend Rohan and me, decided it to be a bike trip. It was monsoon season in Kerela, and an off season for tourists. So yay for us, as we could visit this wondrous place at its best in economical way. We had prepared ourself for 4 days and 5 nights for this adventure. We kind of decided to visit Kochi, Kumarakom, Athirapally, Munnar and Vagamon. We got to know about Paranthumpara, from our hotel manager at Kumarakom. travel itinerary

As soon as we landed in Kochi, we went to Fort Kochi, from where we heard, we could get the best bikes, and indeed we got a beast for ourselves. It was 350 CC Royal Enfield, and we only took one. We followed one can drive and other can navigate principle, as this was our first long biking trip. And we lucked out in this decision, as we would know, riding up on Anamudi hills (highest peak in Kerela at Munnar) in night with dense fog limiting our visibility only up to 3-5 meters. Another night, we went inside preserved wildlife reserved area, because of google maps shortest path. There was no mobile connectivity, no human population, and a fear of witnessing animals in the night. Fortunately in that 20 KM lap, we didn’t encounter things and made to our hotel.

Going by Charles Dickens way, it was scarier at times, it was thrilling at times. We had lot of detours, and no specified destinations. At the end of the day, we would be extremely tired.
